Ontdek East Shilvinghampton Farm in Dorset, Weymouth. Wat is er nu beter dan een verblijf op een werkende boerderij aan de kust van Dorset in de Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty?! Al meer dan 75 jaar maakt East Shilvinghampton farm deel uit van de familie Bartlett. Je ontmoet hier koeien, geiten, varkens, kippen en alpaca’s. Daarbij staat je Tenthuisje dichtbij het boerenerf en heeft een panoramisch uitzicht over de vallei.

Het leven aan de kust van Dorset

Wil je naar het strand? De keuze is hier reuze! Ga bijvoorbeeld naar West Bay, de beroemde thuisbasis van de Broadchurch serie of Chesil Beach, dat deel uitmaakt van het Jurassic Coast werelderfgoed. Je kunt elke dag genieten van een ander strand! Voor vogelliefhebbers ligt het prachtige landschap van Arne op slechts 40 km afstand.

Dit doe je op de boerderij

Er is altijd wel iets te beleven op East Shilvinghampton Farm. Waar anders kun je 's ochtends wakker worden in een comfy bed om hierna een hut te bouwen of de boerderij te verkennen terwijl je met een alpaca loopt? Kinderen kunnen dichtbij de Tenthuisjes veilig spelen op het terrein, terwijl jij ontspant en herten, hazen en uilen spot. Zin in een frisse duik? Er is een hydrotherapie jacuzzi te huur die zorgt voor nog meer ontspanning! Loop naar het boerderijwinkeltje en haal ingrediënten voor een echte stamppot. Steek de houtkachel aan en je slowcooking beleving kan beginnen!

It was a great experience, the children and us enjoyed every detail of it. The going back to basics was great, no electricity and being surrounded by nature and animals was very satisfying. Martin explained us everything when we arrived and he and Joby were very welcoming. They have different options for food as well which is very convenient. The area is great to explore around and the landscape is breathtaking. All was clean in the tent as well as the showers.

We always enjoy our visits to Featherdown Farms, the tents are excellent and is far superior to traditional camping! Our children love playing with the others present, and it is so good for the soul to sit in front of the fire just talking and sharing with family and friends.

We had a wonderul time at East Shilvinghamtpon Farm - it was wonderful to go off grid and slow down. The kids made friends in neighbouring tents and we loved the alpaca walk and morning chats with the goats. Pizza night was delicious and it was a great location to visit Dorset with wonderful beaches and national trust sites.

This is the third Featherdown Farm we have visited. The farm itself is in a nice remote location, easy to get to by car but far enough into the countryside that you are not disturbed by traffic.The highlight of the stay was the goats. My daughter loved spending time with them and it was a real novelty her being able to got into the pen with the goats, who seemed to love the attention from all the visitors.

Stress free from start to finish. Martin and Joby are excellent hosts, the farm is lovely and the location is beautiful. We will definitely return. Top tip: pre-order one of Joby's home cooked meals for arrival night, the vegetarian cottage pie is delicious. The home made cakes are amazing too!

We loved our long weekend on the farm in Dorset. Martin and Joby were very welcoming and the site was brilliant. The children immediately made friends with others and played together in the field every morning and evening. They absolutely loved being with the goats, exploring the tents, and sharing evening camp fires toasting marshmallows. All so wholesome! Our tent was very comfortable - it’s a push to call it camping as we certainly didn’t rough it! It had everything we needed and was kept toasty at night time with the stove. We ate lots of food from the farm - a delicious bolognaise on the first night, pizzas on the second. Fresh bread and eggs for breakfast. The farm was really well located - we visited Charmouth beach for fossil hunting; Weymouth for a fun traditional seaside; Portland Bill and Portland Castle filled a rainy morning; and Lulworth Cove was beautiful - a rib ride from there over to Durdle Door was heaps of fun. Would absolutely recommend for a break - hopefully we’ll be back.

Excellent. Martin and Joby were great hosts. Amazing honesty shop and the best tents we’ve stayed in (done 6 trips to different locations) very clean and well maintained. The alpaca walk is a must and Henry did a great tour of the farm on the walk. The alpacas, cows, horses, cats and goats were a massive plus! All so tame and friendly with no interruption to sleep. Views and camp area were amazing

Really great stay away. Despite the weather on arrival being heavy rain and high winds. The canvas tents are cosy and warm with the stove, oil lanterns and candle lit dinners. Our 2 year old daughter loved playing with the goats and meeting Alpacas, cows and chickens. The pizza night on Saturday was perfect.
